    Embellishments everywhere!

    by  • April 28, 2014 • Craft • 0 Comments

Sometimes, all it takes is a little inspiration to get your creative juices flowing, and we at Cushie Number like to think we can help. Now, own up, how many of you have plain cushions at home that have seen better days or are totally uninspiring? It’s nothing to be ashamed of – I have a few! It’s time to give them a new lease of life with a few simple buttons or beads, ribbon or trims – whatever you have in your craft drawer. Or, be inspired by our nautical look and treat yourself to some new craft bits and pieces and get embellishing! We’d love to see what you come up with, so post your cushions on our Facebook page.

    Floored again

For lazy days lounging around, scatter a floor cushion or two in your living room or kids’ bedroom. We’ve tracked down some fabulous designs that’ll bring you both comfort and extra style points.

    Floor-cushions

    1. Funky birds stride over the screen-printed Pueblo Bird, £32.25 from Zoe Est Kids at Notonthehighstreet. It measures 61cm sq and comes in zingy lime or blue printed on natural linen.

    2. For one-off style, choose cushions made from vintage American feed sacks, measuring a whopping 75-85cm x 50cm and costing £79 from Frank & Fearless at Notonthehighstreet. We love the rustic, worn, tatty feel – perfect for the den.

    3. Friendly doggies take a walk over Parklife, £69.99 from The Shed Inc at Notonthehighstreet, which is feather-filled with removable washable covers. It measures 70cm x 70cm.

    Here comes the sun

    by  • April 19, 2014 • Craze • 1 Comment

Let’s hope we can all get out into the garden this Easter weekend and enjoy a spot of lunch alfresco. We’ve found these bright and beautiful trellis-patterned cushions from Homemade by Harriet on Etsy that’ll make your patio chairs even more comfy and super stylish, too. They’re UV resistant – so won’t fade in the sun – and water-resistant in case of a downpour (and suitable for indoors).  In Yellow, Charcoal and Orange, they measure 50cm by 50cm (or can be made to measure) and are from £34.38 each.

As soon as I saw these absolutely brilliant Pop Art-style cushions I knew I had to have them (is anyone else out there as taken by them as I am?) They tick all my home decor boxes: colourful – check! Retro/vintage – check! Fun – check! For just £30 each, you can have a slice of Roy Lichtenstein and iconic 1950s style on your bed or sofa. They measure 42cm x 42cm – find them at Aspace.

    The final frontier

These cool space age cushions would make a quirky addition to a sofa or bed. I love the robot designs which would look fab in a children’s bedroom with other sci-fi themed accessories, while the To the Moon and Back cushion would work well in a neutral scheme. Give a sofa or armchair a fun pop of colour with the rocket themed cushions.

    1. To the Moon and Back cushion, £30, by Tillyanna at Notonthehighstreet.com

    2. Ferm Living Large Robot cushion, £37, Nubie

    3. Star Ship Woollen cushion, £45, iapetus

    4. Ferm Living Medium Robot cushion, £29, Nubie

    5. Space Rocket cushion, £20, by Nickynackynoo at Notonthehighstreet.com
