Give a grey sofa modern style

    by  • October 31, 2014 • Combos • 1 Comment

There’s so much choice when it comes to cushions… and how many times have you plopped your chosen ones on your sofa only to take them all off again and edit your choice? Well luckily we’ve plenty of ideas (and we’d love to hear yours too) for giving your sofa a style boost that will have your friends turning green with envy.

Here, we’ve taken the Rubens two-seater sofa in Nickel grey, £599, Made.com and styled it with a slogan design (still very BIG in the cushion world), a mustard felt (grey and any shade of yellow are perfect partners in our style book) and a quirky dog knitted cushion (to introduce texture… and a smile!).

    1 Bright Side cushion (43cm x 43cm), £9.99, Dunelm

    2 Yellow Felt Buttonback cushion (43cm x 43cm), £7, George Home

3 Ben de Lisi Knitted dog cushion (45cm x 45cm), Debenhams

    Make our house-shaped cushion

    by  • October 30, 2014 • Craft • 0 Comments

Okay, so I’m a bit more house-obssessed than usual (if that’s possible) as I’m waiting to complete on our new-build (very exciting!). I can’t wait to get in and get creative styling my brand-new sofa with some fabulous new cushions… but as with most house moves, it seems to be taking an age! Luckily the lovely team over at Housetohome.co.uk has been keeping me busy, with not one but four cushion video projects. Here’s the first… and at least it’s a house I can get my hands on!!

Top tips… start by drawing a house shape on a large piece of paper. Imagine you’re back in school and have been asked to draw your dream house shape; mine always was symmetrical complete with a chimney. Then you’ll need a funky retro-print fabric, sewing machine and stuffing. Happy house sewing! And if you try our project, then share with us over on Instagram #stylistsmakes

    by  • October 9, 2014 • Craze • 0 Comments

…It’s official – I’m crazy about cats (almost as much as cushions) and you might think the sofa is no place for pets but I’m ready to prove you wrong with these fancy feline designs. Quirky, cartoony or completely lifelike, I’m sold; so much so in fact, that for the October issue of Style at Home I gave Editor Jen a photo of my own cat, Chas (see cushion number 1 below), for her to turn into a photo cushion – and doesn’t he look cute?

    1. Chas cushion, made using the cushion-printing service at Snappy Snaps (£25)

    2. Malini Purrfect Kitten with Glasses cushion, £15, Rooi.com

    3. Cat wearing Scarf cushion, £14, Next

    4. Handmade Home is Where the Cat is cushion, £29.95, Swanky Maison
