    Clarissa-Hulse

It’s amazing how a simple duvet cover set can completely transform a bedroom. So, if your scheme is a bit jaded and you need a quick fix, why not try this gorgeous bed linen from Clarissa Hulse for a fresh new look this season? Featuring printed designs in Clarissa’s distinctive style, the bed linen depicts dreamy meadow grasses, foliage and flowers that epitomise hazy summer days. Prairie in Turmeric (main picture) combines a light and airy motif with zingy yellow and soft grey, while Block Patchwork in Pebble (inset) is more graphic in natural blues and slate for a fresher feel.

Find them at John Lewis, with duvet covers from £55 for a single and pillowcases from £20 pair. Visit clarissahulse.com for more information.

If you love Liberty-print fabrics then you’ll adore the stylish chair revamp that we featured in our June issue of Style at Home. Made using an assortment of fabric swatches from Alice Caroline, it looks absolutely gorgeous. With its chalk paint finish and mix of pretty patterned fabrics, it makes a gorgeous addition to any room. Editor Lizzie currently has it in the corner of her office, bringing some extra charm to the space. The easy-to-sew seat pad cover is quick to make (took only three hours) and can be done in an evening. Machine sewn or hand-sewn it’s a great project if you’re looking to try upholstery for the first time, and all you need is a staple gun, a pot of chalk paint, some gorgeous fabrics from Alice Caroline and our June issue of Style at Home!

If, like us, you really have fallen head over heels for these floral fabrics, be sure to pick up a selection in other designs and colours. Alice Caroline sells an amazing collection of Liberty fabrics, as well as sewing patterns, notions and kits. Printed on soft fine, high-thread count 100% cotton tana lawn fabric, they’re brilliant for so many craft projects, such as cushions, curtaining, small home dec items, and clothing. So head on over to Alice Caroline now and get sewing for summer!

    Handmade-fair

Love crafting? Then pop the 18th to 20th September in your diary now! Over this sunny (we hope!) weekend, the gorgeous grounds of Hampton Court Palace will welcome the fabulous Handmade Fair for the second year running. With a stellar line up of creative speakers, designers and artisans sharing their inspirational know-how, as well as workshops, crafty stalls and more, it’s set to be another wonderful occasion. Here, we chat with the amazing lady behind the event, Kirstie Allsopp, to find out what’s in store this year.

So what can we expect from The Handmade Fair for 2015?

New faces, old favourites, rising starts and inspiring household heroes, that we can all learn from. The fair is about making, creating, sharing and meeting kindred spirits. Everyone has a craft they can do, so you can be sure to find yours here!

What are you looking to try out this year?

I really enjoy working with my hands and re-purposing items. I just love the tactile nature of it all. This year, I quite fancy having a go at flower arranging with silks and real flowers.

What’s the first thing you ever made for your home and what’s the most recent?

The first was a hand-blown tumbler for Meadowgate with Will Shakespeare in Taunton. The latest were curtains made from old Indian quilts that I hung to the bunkbeds in my sons’ bedroom, just before Christmas.

Are there any crafts you’d like to be better at?

Knitting! But I’ve made my peace with that…

Well, Kirstie, don’t forget to pop along to one of the fabulous knitting workshops lined up! With so much to see and do over the weekend, be sure you don’t miss out.  Full Experience day tickets are £29 each and include a Super Theatre session, a Skills Workshop and a Grand Make session, as well as full access to the Boutique Shopping Village and all the fabulous food and drink stalls. Other ticketing options are also available, including weekend and VIP. Click here to get your tickets today.

We have a pair of tickets to give away to one lucky winner. For your chance to win, send an email with HANDMADE FAIR in the subject line to styleathome@timeinc.com
