    Dress your windows beautifully

    by  • September 24, 2015 • Craft • 0 Comments

Choosing window dressings can seem like a daunting prospect, there are simply too many designs and styles available. But get it right and you can make a room perfect, especially when dressed in beautiful blinds. Whether you install them in a bedroom, kitchen, living room, or elsewhere in your home, dressing your windows will really transform the space.

Here at Style at Home, we’re big fans of the selection available at Hillarys. In a wide array of prints, patterns, colours and styles there is a design to suit everyone’s tastes and decor. We love the new roller and verticals selection, which is absolutely gorgeous and suitable for any budget. The extensive range of roller blinds comes in a full collection of 262 fabrics in a full colour palette, with a large selection of them available as black-out blinds, making them brilliant for bedrooms. Whilst a large number are Teflon coated, so wipe clean and water resistant – great for your bathroom and kitchen. And with prices starting at only £49 you can be sure to find a design to suit you.

We, love, too the choice of vertical blinds, which are brilliant for wider windows and patio doors especially. When you want to let more light into your home, but have some privacy these verticals do the job superbly. They’re also great for bay windows, and can even be used to divide a room and give a similar look to panel blinds, but at a fraction of the cost.

Hillary’s offers a superb made-to-measure service that involves a dedicated advisor coming to your home to show you the full product range, help you choose the right blinds for your budget, measure your windows and provide an accurate quote. And with an exceptional fitting service, too, without fuss and disruption at a time that suits you, you can be sure that your windows will look beautiful. You really cannot go wrong with Hillarys.

    Jam packed

    by  • September 9, 2015 • Craze • 0 Comments

I’ve made jam about three times in my life with varying degrees of success. But the stand out memory is that it’s been a bit of a faff for some pretty average jam. And it took ages. And I burnt my tongue trying to taste the hot jam (massive fail). So, when the Home Preserving Starter Kit from Ball brand landed on my desk and with instructions I can do it in three easy steps, I was intrigued. I like a challenge.

The simple kit gives you everything you need to get started, for just £19.99. All you need at home is a large pan to cook your jam in. So, this week I shall be mostly channelling my inner Mary Berry and attempting my first batch. Now just the small problem of finding a blackberry bush on the way home…
